Engineering & O&M

A plant has to keep working after the project team leaves.

A treatment plant is judged by how it performs over years of operation, not on the day it is commissioned.

Unisavour Industries Limited supports water and wastewater treatment plants across their lifecycle — from process design and engineering through installation and commissioning to operation, maintenance and modernisation.

In short

What does operation and maintenance of a treatment plant involve?

Operation and maintenance (O&M) covers the day-to-day running of a water or wastewater treatment plant and the upkeep of its equipment. It typically includes process monitoring and control, routine and preventive maintenance, servicing, the supply of consumables and spares, and operator training, so that the plant continues to achieve its treated-water requirement over its working life.

The challenge

Why plants drift after commissioning

A plant that performs at handover can lose performance without anyone changing the design.

  • 01

    People change

Trained operators move on, and knowledge of the process goes with them.

  • 02

    Loads change

Production, occupancy and wastewater characteristics rarely stay at the design basis.

  • 03

    Equipment wears

Pumps, blowers, membranes and instruments need planned maintenance.

  • 04

    Supplies run short

Consumables and spares need to be available when the plant needs them.

Scope

Delivery and support options

Alongside conventional project delivery, Unisavour Industries Limited offers:

  • Operation & maintenance
  • Annual servicing
  • Operator training
  • Consumables & spares
  • Build-Own-Operate (BOO)
  • Rental plants

Scope is defined for each plant and project.

Common questions

What buyers ask about engineering and O&M.

What can an O&M scope include?

Scope is agreed for each plant. It can include plant operation, preventive and breakdown maintenance, annual servicing, the supply of consumables and spares, and operator training.

Can O&M support start on an existing plant?

O&M support for an existing plant usually begins with an assessment of its condition, documentation and current performance, so that the scope — and any initial corrective work — can be defined clearly.

Plant audits & upgrades

What are Build-Own-Operate and rental plants?

Under a Build-Own-Operate (BOO) model, the treatment plant is delivered and operated by the provider rather than purchased outright by the facility. Rental plants provide treatment capacity on a rental basis, which can suit temporary, interim or changing requirements. Unisavour Industries Limited offers both, subject to evaluation of the project.

Why does operator training matter?

Plant performance depends on operation as well as design. Trained operators understand how the process responds to changing loads, which parameters to watch and when to intervene — which helps the plant stay stable between maintenance visits.
